Volleyball Team to Dig Pink! Tuesday Night
September 16, 2012Madison Southern High School
For the past few years the Madison Southern volleyball team has taken part in a game to raise awareness for breast cancer each season. Tuesday night in Richmond, the Lady Eagles will play Madison Central in this year's Dig Pink! game. During the week, players will take donations during lunch and the admission, concessions, and silent auction at the game will be split evenly between Central and Southern. The money raised will be donated to Central Baptist in honor of Dawna Gilliam, wife of MSHS principal David Gilliam, who is currently in the post-treatment phase of her battle with cancer.
This year the team wore pink shirts in the Homecoming Parade and senior members of the team will share a breast cancer awareness fact of the day during announcements this week. The volleyball team also is encouraging everyone to wear pink on Tuesday.
"This is a game we look forward to every year and I think it's a great platform for us to raise awareness as well as help out a great place like Central Baptist who is helping so many people battle cancer," said head coach Jeremy Grant.
The game will be Tuesday night beginning at 5:30 with the freshmen game at Madison Central.
