Home » Football NewsFumbled Away.....September 18, 2012 Lake Worth Community High SchoolShocked, disappointed, and awed. That is what the Trojans felt after their home opener was literally fumbled away against West Boca. The term fumble consists of dropping the ball while still in play, which the Trojans did 6 times in the second half and lost 4 of them. The 4 lost ultimately was too much to overcome as the Trojans squandered a 23 point lead in the second half because they could not take care of the football. The Trojans got off to a quick start as an 80 yard touchdown pass to Jermer Braswell from Luis Peguero was executed on the first play from scrimmage. The Bulls came right back with a long strike of their own as a blown coverage in the shaky Trojan secondary was taken advantage of on their first play of the game as well. The Trojans though would handle the Bulls most of the first half as the electrifying Richard Serpahin had two touchdowns in the first half, one rushing and one receiving. Jermer Braswell added another receiving touchdown in the first half as the Trojans led 28-12 at the half. The second half ended like the first half as the Trojans kicked off to West Boca, a great play by sophomore linebacker, Jose Rivera, forced and recovered a fumble on the kickoff. The first play from scrimmage in the second half started like the first play of the game as Luis Peguero hit big wide receiver, James Jones for a 20 yard touchdown to go up 35-12. That would be it for the Trojans as they could not close the game out. They fumbled 6 times and lost 4 of them. The Bulls took advantage of every mistake in the second half as Eugene Bethea scored 4 times and quarterback Zach Miner led the Bulls back with 29 unanswered points to win 41-35. The Trojans fell to 0-3 as the Bulls went to 1-2. It was very disappointing for a young team to have that big of a lead and not be able to close the game out. It definitely is a learning lesson for the Trojans and they hope they can bounce back and turn their season around as they face John I. Leonard next week at Lake Worth. The Trojans have won the past 2 meetings against John I. Leonard. Quick Notes.... Jermer Braswell led the Trojans in receiving with over 100 yards for the 3rd straight game and scored 2 times to lead the Trojans with 4 touchdowns on the year. James Jones scored for the 3rd straight week. Luis Peguero was solid with over 300 yards passing and 4 touchdowns. Nigel Ceasar led the team in catches and added close to 100 yards receiving. Jose Rivera and Clarence Theophile led the defense with strong games. James Looney did not play due to injury.
