Week 2: Palm Beach Central
September 8, 2012Lake Worth Community High School
The lights will go on again tonight at 7pm for the Trojans as they take on Palm Beach Central at Palm Beach Central High just west of the turnpike on Forrest Hill Boulevard.
After a disappointing loss last week to Olympic Heights, the Trojans look to rebound against a tough Palm Beach Central team. Palm Beach Central is known for their rushing attack based off of their huge offensive line anchored by BCS recruit, junior, K.C. McDermott. Palm Beach Central had their game last week against Seminole Ridge canceled due to the affects of Tropical Storm Isaac, which could be an advantage or disadvantage for Palm Beach Central.
The advantage could be that they are well rested and eager to get out there and play. The disadvantage is that they have not played a real game this year yet. They had their kickoff classic two weeks ago against Village Central in a good old shoot out, winning the decision 68-44.
The Lake Worth Trojans played a tough battle against Olympic Heights last week, falling 36-26. They started off too slow and put themselves in a hole. Although the score looks like Lake Worth's defense struggled, they did a decent job against the rushing attack by the Lions. The first score they were pinned in their own redzone to start the drive. Another score was a defensive touchdown for the Lions, and another touchdown was off a short drive after a big special teams play. They did give up a long 95 yard drive, but they showed a lot of heart and toughness by bringing the team back in the game with a 65 yard fumble recovery by linebacker Clarence Theophile, and a few other turnovers caused by James Looney pressuring the center.
This week the Trojans need to execute and play their game. "We need to limit the mistakes and start fast" junior tight end Eliezer Hernandez said. Led by Jermer Braswell on offense, the Trojans will be looking for big plays from their receiving core as they look to take advantage of the Palm Beach Central secondary.
Tonight should be a good one and you can catch the action starting at 7pm at Palm Beach Central High.
