WABASH, Ind. - Freshman Shawna Phelps (Shelbyville, Ind./Shelbyville High School) shot 98 to lead the Indiana University East women's golf team at the Manchester College Fall Golf Tournament on Sept. 15.

The Red Wolves were unable to field a full team.

Freshman Bridgette Moystner (Winchester, Ind./Winchester Community High School) shot a season-best 102, and redshirt sophomore Asia Mathis (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central High School) shot 113.

"Conditions were mild and favorable for today's round," said IU East coach Von Ebeling. "Shawna played her first seven holes well but then had a letdown for a couple of holes. She tried to battle back but couldn't quite get the strokes back. Asia was striking the ball well, but as the day wore on she had a few missed putts that added to her score. Bridgette put some more collegiate playing experience under her belt by playing her best round and dropping in a nice 30-foot putt on the 14th hole.

"Overall I'm pleased with their effort. I liked seeing the intensity they all played with during the round."

Indiana Wesleyan University won the nine-team tournament with a 356. Indiana Wesleyan's Brittney Brooks was medalist with an 80 on the par 72, 5,965-yard course.
