RED WOLVES SWEEP

August 29, 2012
IU EAST BROADCAST SPORTS

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East volleyball team improved to 9-0 with a
25-22, 25-18, 25-22 win against Marian University on Aug. 28.
Junior middle hitter Caitlin Burroughs (Richmond, Ind./Northeastern High School) put
away 10 kills and had a hand in four blocks for the 25th-ranked Red Wolves, who were
playing their first match of 2012 on their regular home court at Seton Catholic High
School.
IU East and Marian (0-1) were tied at 19 in Game 1 and Game 3, but the Red Wolves
pulled away late in both games to win in a sweep.
"Once again, we got the big points when we needed them," said Red Wolves coach
Charlie Brown. "It was one of those classic gritty matches where no one was really
able to take control, and those are the types of matches that as a coach makes you
grow old fast."
IU East had a big edge in the serving statistics. The Red Wolves served up seven
aces - including four by sophomore defensive specialist Cinder Weber (Muncie,
Ind./Wapahani High School) - and benefited from nine Marian service errors.
Jaymee Schambers, a Lincoln graduate, led Marian with 14 digs.
IU East hosts Lourdes College on Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. at Seton Catholic High School.
