The Bryan defense stepped up today shutting down the Defiance attack. Olivia Trubey, Olivia Smith, Alyssa Boecker and Nicole Scantlen were key defensive players in today's game. Bryan's goalie Courtney Retcher came up with some big saves including stopping a penalty kick. She had 20 saves and two goals against. Olivia Smith had a non goalie save. Bryan's first two goals were by Katie Roushia. The first was assisted by Nicole Scantlen, while the second was assisted by Olivia Trubey. Senior Abbie Davenport had the next two goals, assisted by Alexis Wildenberg and Anna Sayarath respectively. Olivia Trubey had the final assist of the day to her co defender Olivia Smith who saw the opportunity to carry the ball all the way to the goal. "Overall I was very pleased with the teams communication, composure and teamwork," said Head Coach Jeffe Wildenberg. "This is a good way to start the season." The Lady Bears host Swanton next Thursday at 6:30 in the league opener.
